Yes, Disney+ Hotstar has begun rolling out support for 4K UHD (ultra-high-definition) resolution and HDR (high-dynamic-range) video, with select few Disney+ originals — including the likes of the Star Wars series. - Disney+ Hotstar Rs 299 plan offers access to all movies, live sports, TV, specials for four devices at a time for a month. It offers 4K or 2160 pixels video quality and Dolby 5.1 support.

For your convenience, Disney+ automatically displays the highest quality video your device can support. Support for 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, and Dolby Vision can vary based on your device's make and model. Please check with the manufacturer to determine if your device is compatible with these formats.

Luckily you shouldn't even have to, because, if your hardware is capable of playing 4K Ultra HD – and if the film or TV series is available in 4K – Disney Plus will automatically start streaming in the highest resolution possible. That's the magic of Disney right there!

The key difference for viewers is that Disney Plus now supports 4K HDR playback; the previous app had been limited to 1080p for all this time. That means you can now watch the service's catalog and recent originals like Andor, Hocus Pocus 2, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in all their Ultra HD glory.

IMAX Enhanced will also offer a more immersive DTS sound to Disney+ Hotstar, a competing option to the Dolby Atmos format.

Video quality while streaming content will be 1080p (FHD) for Premium and Super plan while Mobile plan will get 720p (HD). Premium users will also be able to enjoy 4K content, if the content is available on 4K. 4K is enabled on our latest App on Fire TV, Apple TV and Android TV.

There are 4 video quality settings available: Auto, High, Medium and Low. Click the Settings icon on the video player, select the Video Quality, and select from the options available.

Why does Disney plus not look 4K?

We are aware of an issue in where if your device detects '4K HDR 30Hz', the Disney+ channel will currently deliver standard HD resolution. If your TV supports it, try changing the display resolution to 4K HDR 60Hz in Settings>Display type to receive 4K HDR content.

Comparison of 4K, UHD and HDR

It's important to note that the terms 4K and UHD both refer to display resolution and are essentially the same thing. Conversely, HDR refers to how a device creates the image in colours and brightness. When choosing a display, these are two separate decisions.
